Save your time with Nuance® Dragon® Professional Individual new speech. It takes some time to become used to typing a paper or sending an email with your voice, and we often had trouble remembering the proper command for each circumstance. After a while, you’ll get the hang of it, and if you get stuck, all you have to do is ask, what can I say?
Limited hand movement
The key is to go through the entire statement in your brain before speaking into the microphone, which will still be faster than typing for some individuals, particularly those with limited hand movement. Save your time with Nuance® Dragon® Professional Individual new speech.
Existing audio recordings should be transcribed.
You can also use Dragon to transcribe existing audio recordings, which is (in principle) a great tool for anyone who has to write up meeting minutes or interview transcripts. When we tried to run recordings through the program, however, we ran into some serious problems.
Transcription function
Rather than a neatly transcribed document, the program produced a large block of text with no paragraph breaks or indication of a change in speaker. This rendered the transcription nearly worthless, as we had to listen to the entire audio to clear up the paper. When you turn on the transcription function, it also turns off all other features, so you won’t be able to dictate new email while an existing recording is being processed.

Look around the internet.
Dragon Professional may also be used to access the online (through Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox) and use web-based services like Gmail. Switching between web pages is a little tricky at first, and it’s not much faster (for most people) than using the mouse and keyboard, but it gets simpler with practice. Dragon’s handling of intra-page navigation is also noteworthy.

Increase your vocabulary
If you operate in a field with a lot of jargon, Dragon Professional may have trouble understanding you at first. The program, on the other hand, encourages you to increase its vocabulary by manually inputting and training phrases or running documents through it.
Using the interface
The Dragon Professional interface seems like something you’d find in a piece of software from the early 2000s, which is to say, it’s a little antiquated. Ironically, there’s also a choice from “Modern” to “Classic” mode, which increases the nostalgic feeling even more.
Support
Professional users will be covered by Nuance’s business hours telephone hotline, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, however people utilizing the kit after hours or on weekends may run into issues. Users who have registered their product and made an account on the Nuance website may also send queries to the support team using an online form, which is very easy.
Competition
The competition is fierce. There are a variety of voice recognition programs on the market, but few offer the same range of features.
Advertisement
Otter.ai, for example, excels in transcribing live and pre-recorded audio and is quite user-friendly, but you wouldn’t use it to compose an email; instead, you’d use it to assist with note-taking or interview transcription. Meanwhile, Braina Pro has some of the same virtual assistant features as Dragon, but it has a clumsy and antiquated user interface. We were also quite impressed by Speechmatics, but there is no way to buy the program altogether. Instead, you must pay by transcribing volume, which is not suitable for everyone.
